Night At The Movies

Pathway To Hope has helped thousands of mentally ill individuals and their families by offering personal guidance and group meetings. “No one should navigate the unchartered waters of mental illness alone,” says Sharon Lawrenz, executive director.

All profits from Night at the Movies help the organization serve community members struggling with various types of mental illness, whether it’s depression, bi-polar disorders, schizophrenia, Aspergers Syndrome or other difficulties. The recovery journey begins with a sense of hope.

What is Night at the Movies?
Primarily, it’s a fun, exciting gathering of people who cast their bids on great silent and live auction items, visit over a tasty meal, watch children dance and listen to music. The main thing attendees do, however, is bid on movie titles. The movie “game” is like a lottery. Registrants have an opportunity to purchase names of movies throughout the evening and the “lottery” drawing determines the winner. This year’s theme – Sports Movies from the 50s through today.
The final drawing produces a “Jackpot” winner – someone will walk away with $500.00. But the evening cites numerous winners – the more than 250 attendees who all have a great time and the thousands of individuals that Pathway To Hope serves.
The mentally ill are remarkable resilient human beings who, if they are given a chance, relearn the arts of love, work, and “hope.” And they become contributing members to the community.
