November 7th won’t soon be forgotten by those who are passionate about Pathway To Hope. Recognized on that evening for its mission to serve individuals and families dealing with mental illness, Pathway To Hope was awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Christian Foundation Heartland at their 10th Annual Passion Awards event.
The Passion Awards got its start in 2001 with the idea that it would connect the Christian community, celebrate the work of God, and provide a competitive grant opportunity for ministries that serve His people. The vision was that this special evening would be an annual celebration of what God is doing in and through people, inspiring a better understanding of what it looks like to live life generously.
Through the review and interview process Randall Leonard, director of Impact Ministries at Colonial Presbyterian Church, said that the work done by Pathway To Hope and the difference the organization makes in people’s lives touched his heart. Making the decision to choose Pathway To Hope was easy for our foundation review group.
Sharon and Dick Lawrenz fittingly accepted the financial award and accompanying plaque for the organization, as one of only 18 ministries selected out of 177 programs working locally, nationally and internationally that submitted information for consideration.
“The night was so exciting it seems almost unreal in looking back at it,” said Sharon Lawrenz, executive director of Pathway To Hope. “To receive this grant and recognition is validation that the need to provide services to folks dealing with the challenges of mental illness is real and growing. And, I believe it also says that Pathway To Hope is doing some very good work. This grant will enable us to do even more.”
